East London Theatre Company’s production of Miss Julie captivated audiences at the 2024 Wanstead Fringe Festival. Its success led to a transfer to The Courtyard Theatre in October 2024, where it continued to impress. LondonTheatre1 described it as “compelling, cogent and captivating,” adding, “I was engaged and enthralled for the entire evening.” The production’s visceral energy and stripped-back intensity struck a chord with audiences and critics alike. Due to overwhelming public demand, Miss Julie returned to The Wanstead Curtain in November 2024 and is now scheduled for a further run at
Redbridge Drama Centre in October 2025.
REVIEWS
In 2023, as the final project of my MFA in Theatre Directing at East 15 Acting School (University of Essex), I directed BU21 by Stuart Slade—an East 15 production in association with East London Theatre Company.
This bold, emotionally charged play explores the aftermath of a fictional terrorist attack through six interwoven monologues, and offered a powerful platform to showcase my directorial approach to contemporary text. With a focus on clarity, truth, and ensemble storytelling, the production was met with strong audience and peer feedback. I was awarded a Distinction for my work, marking a significant milestone in my development as a director.

East London Theatre Company’s inaugural production, DNA by Dennis Kelly, premiered at the 2022 Wanstead Fringe Festival with performances at Wanstead High Theatre. The cast featured a dynamic ensemble of professional actors and undergraduates from East 15 Acting School and Drama Studio London, bringing fresh, authentic energy to Kelly’s tense and thought-provoking play.
Daytime performances were delivered to over 600 Year 10 and Year 11 students studying DNA as a set text for GCSE English, and to a further 400 students at Sydney Russell School in support of the GCSE Drama syllabus. Evening performances were open to the public and attracted audiences of over 200, highlighting strong community interest and support.
This impactful debut embodied the company’s mission to create high-quality, educationally relevant theatre that engages directly with schools and local audiences alike.
